Spotted in Berkeley: Just gettin' some coffee

I was in a Starbucks this morning and the guy in line in front of me had a cat in a cage with him. This isn't necessarily unusual, I mean, maybe he just came from the Vet or something? Except, it's Sunday and Vet offices aren't usually open on Sundays. Plus, from the way he was acting, I think he just takes his cat with him everywhere he goes. He lifted up the cage and showed the baristas and said "and now you get to say hi to him again!"

And then, later, after he had put his soy milk in his coffee, he opened the cage and they had a nice little chat.

While one might say "Only in Bezerkeley" they would be wrong.
I worked at Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto a few years ago and there was someone who would bring his large cat on a leash to hang out in the courtyard.
I have to say I haven't seen this outside of California.

And yes, this may have been your lamest comment to date. You're welcome.

Don't be silly! I'm sure there have been much lamer comments than this one in the past! Like.... everything I'VE ever said!

I walk my cat on a leash in the back yard. I've tried walking her in the front but can't desensitize her enough to not freak out when a car drives by. I need to get her a kitty stroller so we can take her on walks around the neighborhood.............Yes! I'm the crazy cat lady.

Do you two go out for coffee and have a nice chat about it on Sunday mornings?

Nice use of "the guy in line in front of me" as a cover for your own cat lunacy. It works as well as my "I have a friend with a strange rash" letters to Dear Abby in the 80s.

Face it - you fit in perfectly in your hometown.

Wow. I wonder how many women he has coming over regularly?

What's wrong with that? I do the same thing with my pet chicken.
Seriously, that guy has one foot in the door of Bat Shit Crazydom.

Wow, that guy needs to get a life. Or a friend.

But... the CAT is his friend. His best friend. So sweet :)

That's weird how a friend & I were just discussing people who take their cats everywhere with them, cats who like to ride in cars etc...

I think it's cute & sweet, but I don't know if I could have controlled myself once the conversation started. lol

Ugh, I am not a cat person, would not be talking to one while having a coffee. No interest in sneezing in my coffee or becoming a cat lady (or man in this loon's case).

Oh thank gd!! There's someone out there crazier than I am. I feel so much better now!

I hate cats. And cat people aren't my favorite either.

I like harmless crazy people. They make hum drum daily boring stuff interesting. Without the cat guy, your story would be... I went to Starbucks and got coffee.
