Out of the mouths of babes: This time he was coached

Last week I kept Child 2 home from school (because of the barfing) but I had a haircut appointment that I didn't want to miss (have you heard of my tuft? My tuft needs constant care) so I decided to bring him along.

A few hours before the appointment, hubs and I started prepping him.

"When you meet John, this is what you need to say to him. Okay, let's practice. Hi! I'm John! Nice to meet you! What do you say?"

We got there, and practiced a few more times, and finally the big moment had arrived.

John came over...  and I made the introductions.

Me: John, this is Child 2. Child 2, this is John.

John: Hi Child 2, nice to meet you.

Child 2: I want a Flock of Seagulls!

Good work, son. Very good work.

Tell me that John did not give either of you that haircut! Lol! Good to hear that this happens with the NT kids as well. :)

I am waiting for the 5 year old to bust out with something precious. She's already yelled at a kid at school who kept saying he had to go to the potty, "WELL JUST GO THEN!" hmm wonder where she got that? lol

This is awesome.

With some coaching, I taught my oldest to yell "FLAVOR FLAV!" and my youngest to tell mom to "Chill Out."

I feel very cheated that I didn't get to see the tuft. I also have a tuft, but it's more of an Alfalfa-type cowlick that grows right at the center top of my forehead. As soon as it gets long enough to blend in with the rest of my hair, another grows in its place. My hairdresser says this is good, that it means I'm growing new hair. So thrilled to hear it.

Actually, it looks a lot like those Flock of Seagull tufts, but in the CENTER OF MY HEAD.

That was my opening line to my wife. The rest is history. Tho, I still haven't got my flock of seagulls yet.
Ah, Jill! We, too, have practiced this skill a lot. Good news is, it will come! My son would not even PRACTICE shaking hands w/the friendly maintenance lady at our complex, and the other week he SHOOK HANDS FIRST with some teenager we met in the laundry room that he took a liking to. And, I can see him saying instead of the seagull comment something like... "We've found 1000 things that don't work. The trick is moving on to 1001." (quoting his Thomas Edison movie from the library)

Okay, i gotta stop wasting 5 minutes here. I googled flock of seagulls (wait, is that appropriate?) and they were big when I was 2. No wonder I never heard of them! I thought that was a picture of YOU in the post. That looks like a tuft.

I'm keeping track now. I've lost 10 minutes of my life going back to things on this blog. 10 minutes!
